I'm divided on this update. On the one hand, this was a hilarious comeback to Jerome's "interesting" MTV interview. On the other hand, way to not be the bigger man TR.

Jerome just got too big for his britches - (who wouldn't, coming off a tour with Nine Inch Nails for Chrissake?) He was trying to ride on Trent's coattails - TR has worked hard to get the name NIN mentioned again, to be relevant again, to attract fans (all the tour dates, the interviews, the fan club, the teaser pics, ect) and Dillion was trying to steal a bit of his lime light. He goes off to make his own 'dream' record, he breaks his ties with NIN because he wants to do his 'own thing'...and then he uses Trent's name as a shameless promotional instrument? I'm glad El Rezo set him straight. Good for Trent!

I don't feel Trent's response to the MTV interview makes him the lesser man. Jerome said things in the interview that Trent disagreed with, so why shouldn't Trent state his side? Seems to me that Jerome Dillon is a big, whiny baby looking for attention. s.

oooh...gotta love this petty crap! i think each guy is entitled to their opinion, and TR is just giving a knee-jerk reaction to JD's comments in the press. It's a shame this stuff has to go back and forth through articles and internet posts and not be settled in person between them... as far as the "attempt to create interest" part, i'm not sure if Jerome is milking his ex-NIN credentials constantly or it's just the press's decision to link the two and talk about the split, etc. He has trouble shutting his trap about feeling jilted. Not very professional of him. Yet TR saying Jerome looks like an asshole-- that's TOTALLY professional, because Reznor has NEVER had or used any pictures like that one (or is that the irony?). First Off, the tone of TR Update was like a punch in the face. TR didn't leave any stone un-turned. Frankly, Jerome is getting what he deserves. Jerome believed NIN was a body with indiviudal autonomy, well sorry to burst your bubble, IT'S NOT!!! NIN is TR's, no one else's. If the experience was so bad why come back to play the Hollywood Bowl Show but for personal reasons? Secondly, if someone wears pressed designer jeans and claims to be a rock 'n roll icon, think again. Last time I thought about it only posers, frat boys and spolied little suburbanites wear them. I don't know any more. Trent has the high ground in this argument both morally and pragmatically.

wow, the ending there is the only thing that makes trent look like the lesser man. other than that end comment, i'm inclined to believe trent, especially taking into account the things he has previously said about jerome, which seemed a little nicer. after the inital departure, trent seemed to try to be nice about and make sure he didn't paint jerome in a bad light, but after jerome's mtv interview, i'm sure trent felt a little betrayed by what was said. i'm just a little surprised it's all so public.

My $0.02 -- Jerome did send me some out-of-the-blue insane-o emails around the time his album was coming out. He made some pretty c-r-a-z-y accusations, and really soured me on even posting about his shit at all on the hotline. He wanted me to call his cell phone and apologize for our posts on the Hotline about nearly. (Find me one post on the hotline that isn't hopeful and encouraging of his project.) His CD was still pretty good, but I was pretty turned off by his completely-off-the-rocker emails.
His emails are considerably less psychotic now, but I would have probably written a lot more about nearly if he a) wrote nice normal-person emails like he'd written before, b) didn't write anything at all, c) didn't come up with hairbrained strawman accusations in an attempt to guilt-trip me into posting about his CD on the hotline.
At first, I wrote it off. He'd just been through some pretty crazy shit, and was misdirecting his anger. Frankly, I care -->·<-- that much, my website's a hobby, it's not something I do to make myself feel important, but it's also not something I do to make anyone else feel important. The whole episode is looney, maybe I'll post our email exchange on April Fool's day, because it's that wacky you might not believe they're real emails.
I like his CD, which is more than I can say for anything Richard Patrick or Marilyn Manson have put out post-Reznor. I don't care for his manipulative approach - while it was kind of nice that he got directly in touch with me, then he went batshit, and got smack-talky. About me, an admitted Pennsyltucky loser. Okay there buddy. Work your own problems out.

listen i hate this fucking drama... but shit even Jerome on his website like a couple months back during the start of the Fall 05 tour had said that "everyone was giving him hugs, INCLUDING TRENT" and then he went on to say that "trent's not the type to hug" soo him saying to MTV that he wasnt welcomed back or that noone cared is bullshit... i mean come on it HE is the one who posted this stuff on his website about everyone being so nice and the out puring of affection coming from the most unlikely of sources... i mean what shit.... peeps have got issues when they start believeing thier own bullshit

Trent seemed pretty encouraging about Jerome's music in the post, so it would be in Jerome's best interest not to get too pissed. Trent is right, though, if you want a tour, you should just fucking book it yourself. You can't tell me Jerome doesn't have money left over from being in NIN for 6 years, he should just take the risk and put it together. Not to mention, he could probably get a gig at any club in America by merely telling the booking agent he was in Nine Inch Nails. And he has good material to perform, I'd go see it. I'm in a band that is flat broke, and we're still going on tour to promote our album. You just gotta do it.

How old is he now, 40? He's acting like he's 14. He's entitled to be angry if JD is indeed talking shit, but he can do better than to express it like that, it just looses him lots of respect. There are ways of addressing (and even insulting) people in a dignified and mature manner. And he does in most of the post, but then he just steps over the line there at the end. It also has the effect of devaluing the rest of what he has to say. Didn't he pause for a moment to think what a dick he'd come across as posting a comment like that? If you want to insult someone, at least come up with something that wouldn't be said on a playground.

I thought that was fairly restrained as Reznor replies go. While it is a fact that Mr. Dillon was involved with NIN for 6 years, it probably wouldn't get him an MTV article. Having a public "fight" with the guy who has had the number 1 album and 3 singles recently will. It probably is for publicity. The asshole comment was somewhat questionable, but given the overall semblence of maturity of the rest, I suppose a few swipes at someone who you thought was your friend (but is now trading on your name) is understandable.
I can't imagine young Trent letting lack of label support keep him from working his ass off to get his music out to the public. Jerome may not understand what he needs to do since he was travelling with a 1st class band and getting the high level treatment. It might be hard for him to do what Trent did; play wherever he could get a stage, carry his own stuff, etc. Hard work is good for the soul and got Trent where he is....maybe Jerome should learn what it took for a lot of now successful acts to be where they are now.
